At a glance

What E3E does, in plain words.

What it measures
Flow and thermal energy
Liquid flow plus supply and return temperatures, to work out heating or cooling energy.
How it installs
Clamp-on
Sensors fit on the outside of the pipe, so the pipe stays closed.
How it connects
PoE / Ethernet
One Ethernet cable carries both power and data.
Works with MeterTube, the pFlow app and cloud platform.
Pipe sizes
DN20–DN80
DN is the nominal pipe size, roughly the inside diameter in millimetres.

Why E3E

E3E in short.

E3E measures water flow and heating or cooling energy from outside the pipe. It uses the transit-time ultrasonic principle with Gentos signal processing and a flow-and-energy algorithm.

Readings are stored in the cloud over its Ethernet connection, so you can view, analyse and query them from a phone or a PC.

  • Power and data over one Ethernet cable (PoE)
  • Works with the MeterTube app and platform
  • Installs without cutting or damaging the pipe
  • No adjustment needed: plug in and measure
  • Colour LCD that rotates through 360°
Where it is used
  • HVAC heating and cooling circuits
  • Energy-saving monitoring
  • Heat balance regulation
  • Heating regulation
  • Air-handling unit (AHU) rooms

How it works

Sound with the flow arrives sooner.

Two sensors on the same side of the pipe take turns sending sound through the water. Sound travelling with the flow arrives slightly sooner than sound travelling against it; the meter turns that time difference into flow, which is why it needs to know your pipe.

  1. Measure the water flow. The ultrasonic sensors read flow through the pipe wall.
  2. Measure two temperatures.Temperature sensors measure the supply and return water.
  3. Calculate thermal energy. The meter combines flow and the temperature difference to give heating or cooling energy.
